Welcome to the 21st Century Learning Team!

Agenda:

Old Business
Technology Updates ( What is working? What is not working?)
  • SMART Boards, Document Cameras, Laptop cart, iPad cart
  • Software including Raz Kids, ALEKS, etc.
Training Needs:

Think Central - Kate, Neal and the Coaches are working on a training piece for all the electronic tools. The electronic resources DO work using the ink layer on the SMART Board. I can show you an easy way to make this work so it is not frustrating for you and your students.

Barrington Elementary 21st Century Staff Survey - Fall 2012

Please click on the link below to visit a DRAFT Google Survey that we could send out to staff. This could serve as a needs assessment and could guide the PD that we offer this year at the Cafe' 21sessions. Thoughts? Suggestions or changes?

New Business

Cafe 21 is on October 18th. We will have 3 visitors from MO to see what we are doing with 21st Century Learning. I think this will be a great way to showcase your work and the work of your kiddos. *I think we should invite the Board of Education members to attend this. Thoughts?
Plan/sessions for this day: (3:05 - 4:00pm)

OPTION 1 - One idea we discussed in the spring, was to open up your classrooms, student work, documentation, projects, etc. for teachers to go on a “Gallery Walk”. I attached an example of this protocol for your to view. We could definitely modify it as needed. During this Café 2 structure, teachers would follow a protocol to identify evidence of the skills, etc.

OPTION 2 - Our 2nd option is to hold mini learning/work sessions like we have in the past. Each session could focus on a different 21st Century Skill. For example – For Complex Thinking, Becky and Katrina could share their Playground Problem/Solution Project and how to create a digital story using digital cameras and iMovie. For Communication, someone could share their website (wiki, weebly or district website) and share how they communicate with parents and the learning community. For Self-Directed Learning, someone could share how they set-up student ePortfolios for their students to set goals, show growth and celebrate their learning. Maybe we could have a primary example and an intermediate example.

21st Century Learning Displays (TV's by Library and Cafeteria)**
We need a plan and/or rotation for the projects that will be displayed on these screens. I have currently having issues playing videos:( (I am working on this issue) BUT...we can share a TON of pictures and student work.
